Cooperation between Indian universities and Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS): Sharing of experiences, dos and don’ts

Considering the growing interest among German UAS to collaborate with Indian universities, the DAAD New Delhi together with HAW. International at DAAD Bonn hosted a web seminar for 35 participants from German institutions. It provided the participants an overview of the Indian higher education system with a special focus on initiating cooperation with Indian universities. UAS with successful partnerships with Indian universities shared their experiences and insights.

Apart from the traditional universities, more than 200 UAS, that focus on applied research and teaching build an important part of the German higher education and research landscape. The DAAD supports the universities of applied sciences in their efforts to establish cooperation projects with international partners and build on their internationalisation strategies with a dedicated funding program. The program facilitates international cooperation projects and also offers students from UAS in Germany opportunities to study abroad.

This UAS web seminar was the first event dedicated for UAS to connect them with India. A match making session and a fact-finding mission with India is foreseen for a group of UAS in the later part of 2022.
