This page will take you through the highlights in the story of the DAAD as it developed and participated in the academic & research initiatives in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The ever-growing Team DAAD welcomes you for this walk along the timeline.
The DAAD started its work in India in the month of September. The first director was Heinz Hessbeger. The small team operated out of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in New Delhi. This was just the beginning and the office was going to witness a lot of development both in India and in Germany, new organisations and policies coming into being, and be a part of this interesting action.
