Long-term Lectureships for German Emeritus Professors at Indian Universities (Johann Gottfried Herder-Programm)

The programme aims to support and arrange the long-term teaching stay for retired German university lecturers from all disciplines (in exceptional cases also retired managers from business and administration) at Indian universities.

Semester lectureships by the Herder lecturers at the host universities are funded to provide an important stimulus for networking between their host university and universities in Germany. Emeritus professors can either apply for positions published by DAAD or get invited to Indian institutions they already have contacts with.

  • Contribution of the host institution in the form of local hospitality/honorarium is expected
  • The German emeritus professor needs to apply to the DAAD

Application starts from 18 September 2023
