DAAD Scholarship Certificate Handing-over Ceremonies

DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service is organising scholarship certificate handing over ceremonies throughout South Asia for the fresh batch of scholarship awardees. The handing over is done in cooperation with the Consulate Generals or Embassies of the Federal Republic of Germany. This year the DAAD has awarded 287 scholarships for India, followed by 9 for Bangladesh, 2 for Bhutan, 8 for Nepal and 11 for Sri Lanka.

The scholarships that the awardees have received are University Summer Courses, WISE – Working Internships in Science and Engineering, EPOS – Development-related Postgraduate Courses, PPGG – Public Policy & Good Governance, GSSP – Graduate School Scholarship Programme, Research Stays, Reinvitation and Bilateral Exchange of Academics. Scholarship awardees are yet to be announced for DAAD flagship programmes such as PhD, PhD Sandwich and IIT Master Sandwich Programme.

The first of these ceremonies in India was held in Chennai and was hosted at the residence of the Consul General of Germany in Chennai, Michaela Kuechler. The next handing-over ceremonies took place in Mumbai (7 May), Delhi (8 May), Bengaluru (8 May) and Kolkata (9 May). The action began last week in Colombo with a ceremony at the Embassy of Germany in Colombo with eleven scholarship holders.
