Indian Students in Germany at an all-time high

The number of Indian students in Germany has increased from 28,905 in 2020 it has gone up to 59,419. Out of these 41,048, i.e. 69% are male students and 18,371, i.e. 31% are females.
This number refers only to the students pursuing Bachelors, Masters & PhDs. Those going to Germany for internships, short-term research, exchanges, etc., are over and above this number.
These students have chosen the following subjects for their higher education:
● Engineering incl. Biology-related fields – 60%
● Social Sciences/Economics/Management – 21%
● Mathematics/Natural Sciences – 18%
● Other (Sports/Arts/German Studies, etc.,) – 6%
While these are the trends for Indian students, the number of students from the entire subcontinent also follow the same upward trend from 2020 to 2025:
● Bangladesh – 8,076 from 5,177
● Bhutan – 42 from 26
● Nepal – 2,353 from 2,157
● Sri Lanka – 1,514 from 634
