1990 - 1999

This decade saw a number of new scholarship programmes. The marketing initiative that then started was to make India the home country to the largest number of foreign students in Germany.

1994

  • Dr Manfred Stassen joined as the Director (1994-1998)

1997

1997

  • Wissenschaftleraustauschprogramm (WAP) MoU was signed with the 5 IITs in 1997 to facilitate faculty exchange between India and Germany
  • CSIR Directors visited DAAD Bonn in 1997 to celebrate more than 30 years of partnership

1998

1998

  • IIT Master Sandwich Programme (now KOSPIE) was established. The first batch of engineering students travelled to Germany in 1998. The programme started with 5 IITs and now engages with 23 IITs
  • Projektbezogene PersonalPartnerschaften (PPP) was a programme set up by the  DAAD and the Department of Science & Technology. Since 1998, this joint cooperation programme has supported more than 450 projects
  • Hannelore Bossmann joined as the Director (1998-2003)

1999

1999

  • Foundations of the marketing activities were laid. The DAAD teamed up with a consortium of universities of applied sciences for their India tour
